Stock, semi-custom or custom cabinets: what’s the real difference?

Cabinet showrooms throw these words around a lot. Here’s what they mean in practice.

Stock (our Level 1)

Built ahead of time in standard sizes. Fast and affordable. Fillers close the gaps where the sizes don’t match your walls.

Semi-custom (our Level 2)

Built after you order, in more sizes and finishes, with glass doors and storage inserts. This is where most kitchens land.

Custom (Levels 3 and 4)

Built to the inch, in any color, with furniture details. Worth it for odd-shaped rooms, older homes and kitchens you plan to keep for decades.

When to move up a level

  • Your walls are far from square, as in many older Greenville homes
  • You want a specific paint color matched exactly
  • You want inset doors or a furniture-style island
